Pretty pink hues have been taking over my life recently; my wardrobe is full of blush toned feminine pieces and my make up bag is looking gorgeously rosy too. This little selection of current favourites fall comfortably within my aesthetic and are all incredible products that I’ve been reaching for more or less daily. It’s been so long since I’ve written out a favourites post and I don’t know why. I love reading them, I love writing them and they are (for want of a better word) my favourite. Rather than do a monthly round up, I’ve just grabbed the things that I have been loving lately and think that you will too.
Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil
This duo are my heroes of the hair care world. I am most definitely a Bumble and Bumble gal when it comes to hair, and the ‘Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil’ range is the best collection I have tried so far. I remember back in the day using Frizz Ease for the first time and let me tell you, it was a revelation for my unruly mane. This dream team is just that, and then some. It makes my locks super swishy and shiny, soft, manageable and most importantly banishes any trace of the dreaded frizz at the same time as protecting against heat and UV Damage. I like to work a couple of pumps of oil through the ends of my hair when wet, give it a good spritz of the primer and then get to work styling. It smells incredible too, and keeps my hair in brilliant condition between washes. The range also includes a shampoo and conditioner, a cleansing oil cream duo which I am definitely going to have to try out, a hair mask and finishing spray. Prices start from £21.00 so whilst it may not be the cheapest out there, I can honestly say nothing has made my hair feel as nice as this does. So for me, it’s worth every last penny.
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
Up until recently, my collection of Naked palettes have been gathering dust in favour of my Too Faced additions. However, when shopping my stash about a month ago I dusted off Naked 3 and haven’t looked back. We all know how iconic the range is, how buttery and bendable the shadows are and how wearable every palette is. I’ve fallen back in love with them all, in particular this one which features an entire spectrum of pinky, rose gold goodness. Ranging from the creamy ‘Strange’ which is perfect for highlighting under the brow bone, through to the enchanting smoky purple tones of ‘Blackheart’, I adore and use every single one of the colours. For a simple, feminine every day look I’ve been blending ‘Limit’, a matte, pale dusty pink through the eye socket, with a wash of ‘Burnout’, a light rosy shimmer, all over my mobile lid.
Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow
Well, this is just radiance in a bottle. Wonder Glow is a beautiful, luminous primer which has fast made it into my everyday routine. Whenever my skin is looking tired or lacklustre (basically, every morning) I apply a thin layer of this under my foundation and voila. A dewy complexion with a healthy glow at your finger tips, every time without fail. It comes in a gorgeous golden, champagne colour that works wonders on any skin tone. I can even face the school run with this as my sole base product if I’m in a rush – it’s my instant pick me up. Lightly scented, it sinks in within seconds and is a flawless base for any other products; whether it be a tinted moisturiser or full coverage foundation this makes every look wonderfully radiant.
The Ordinary Lactic Acid*
I’m pretty new to the world of acid exfoliants. The Pixi Glow Tonic (which I love) is about the only other one I’ve tried out properly. A product like this is designed to smooth and brighten the appearance of skin with continued use. If you’re new to this kinda thing, or have particularly sensitive skin I would start off with the milder formulation (The Ordinary also offer a 5% strength version of this product). I like that the exfoliating properties are balanced out by the inclusion of Hyaluronic Acid, known to provide and lock in moisture, and irritation is counter acted with Tasmanian Pepperberry – what a magical little potion. I’ve been using this 2-3 evenings a week, after cleansing and before applying a facial oil. It absorbs quickly and after a couple of weeks I can definitely see visible improvements to my complexion. An absolute bargain at £6.00 from ASOS – I’ve been trialling a few bits from their range so keep your eyes peeled for more from The Ordinary soon!
I have been head over heels with this fragrance for months now. Not since I first smelt Philosykos has a perfume captured my heart so much. I love the story behind this scent, which you can read all about in this post, but in a nutshell it encapsulates the essence of todays woman: strong, free and sensual. Wearing a Guerlain perfume, much like it’s Parisian powerhouse counterparts Diptyque and Chanel, evokes a sense of grace, elegance and femininity within me which make them an essential part of my fragrance wardrobe. Mon Guerlain is the perfect Spring/Summer scent with notes of lavender, jasmine and vanilla. I’ve been wearing this constantly, and even though I’m only about a quarter of the way into the bottle, I’m already considering buying a back up for when I run out!
